Level 3 MYO Slot: Seagreen Pied Lovebird
Owned by Fafnir
A domestic variant of peach-faced lovebird (Agapornis roseicollis var.) displaying two artificially selected genes: the seagreen recessive allele and the dominant American pied mutation. This color morph is called "aqua turquoise pied" in Europe.
Standard seagreen lovebirds, named for their blue-green bodies, were first created by crossing the peach-faced lovebird's two blue-series color morphs, Dutch blue and whitefaced (both also recessive). Introducing the dominant American pied mutation, which removes melanin from some feathers to create dappled yellow patches, creates a pied seagreen coloration.
