Younger Days: Mille

Many years ago, a newly married couple was on their honeymoon in one of the less polluted, more rural areas of Sermos. Now, the man worked in the army - however, not on the front lines, much to his bride's relief - he was a scientist.
The lovebirds got married a month before he had to head back and they were looking to enjoy what time they had left before he has to leave but there'd been a rather trifling, but continued issue with their room and board. Both man and wife were avid tea drinkers, the woman with a fondness for chamomile and earl gray in particular, but their sachets and teabags of chamomile tea seemed to mysteriously disappear.
They'd asked the staff to look into their little issue but that provided no answer. Considering they locked their room when they left it couldn't possibly be anyone but the staff, however the evidence pointed to someone more naive taking the tea, which led Agathe to the conclusion that it must be a child of one of the staff members or a neighbouring family. Cranky about her precious tea and rather displeased with having her honeymoon made a little less idyllic Agathe decided to set a trap for the little thief. After all, in Sernos, quality tea especially special flavours most certainly did NOT come cheap and she couldn't spend more than a certain amount buying tea. Now she had to decide what kind of trap she should lay, after all she did not want to hurt someone's child, oh no! She just wanted to give them a stern talking to is all. After much thought, she finally settled on a plan. Agathe made some chamomile tea using up a good bit of what the little thief hadn't yet managed to purloin, poured it into two cups and set the small tea table for two. She then proceeded to turn of the lights and air conditioning, dress herself up for an outing and then proceeded to leave the room, pretending to leave for some exploring with her husband. Then she doubled back and hid in their room.
A few minutes went by before she heard some cautious rustling, managing to keep her excitement in check she stayed still, barely even breathing out. A yellowish white small hand appeared on the window sill, followed by another, and then a tiny little foot! Slowly, carefully, barely making a sound a tiny paralogos crept into the room and looked around cautiously. Agathe couldn't believe her luck! A tabula rasa! Or well almost, this little paralogos seemed to be finding their word focus! Seeing how nervous the little critter was Agathe stated still waiting for them to come try the tea she'd left out. The paralogos, seeming drawn to the tea excitedly we t ro it and gently lifting a cup started sniffing it and giving out small, happy sighs. Slowly, holding the little pamphlet that came with her tea, Agathe stepped out of her hiding spot and enquired out loud to the little paralogos 'Would you like to read about different kinds of tea?'
The paralogos seemed rather afraid of this strange human, yet they did very much want to read that book, sensing their unease, Agathe carefully placed it on the tea table, took her own teacup from the table and sat down in one of the big overstuffed armchairs that were on either side of it. Cautiously the little critter waddled to the table, took the little booklet in their arms and sat down on the floor slowly absorbing the information in the book. Agathe could see for the paralogos colors slowly shifted to more orangish hues, had she inadvertently helped a paralogos find its word focus? That was momentous indeed! Someone of her social standing barely ever got to meet bonded paralogos forget an almost tabula rasa! Forgetting all her disgruntlement over her stolen tea, Agathe settled into her armchair, sipping her rather lukewarm tea and watching the little paralogos do the same while thumbing through the small booklet.
After an hour or so, as requested, Agathe's husband returned to their room, expecting no one but Agathe and maybe a neighborhood child, but the sight that greeted him was Agathe sitting on one of the two overstuffed armchairs with one of the smallest paralogos he'd ever seen, one still in the process of discovering their own word focus if his eyes were to be believed, cuddled together, Agathe talking at length about tea and it's benefits while the paralogos stared at her adoringly.
Noticing him by the door, his wife looked up 'Welcome back my darling, I've found our little tea thief. This is Mille, isn't she absolutely lovely?' On his rather awed greetings to the critter, Agathe introduced him to her new friend 'Mille, this is Friedrich, my husband'.

Friedrich sighed, brought out of find memories of his wife by a gentle tap on his knee, there stood Mille, a tray of tea in her hands. With a small, sad smile she offered him a cup and they sat together, sipping tea, neither making any attempt to fill the silence.
