Cryopreservation
Alexander's skin is mostly shiny grey, mimicking the stainless steel used for cryopreservation equipment. Their underneck/belly, arms, and legs are a gradient of icy blue to white. Holes at the dorsal part of each tail segment allow for frozen sample vials to be slotted into place for storage. Icicles hang from their crest, and a "fin" of liquid nitrogen vapor emenate from the back of this crest. They always wear thick blue cryo gloves on their hands.
Alexander's name is derived from Alexander Zaytsev, who first synthesized the common cryoprotectant DMSO in 1866.
